Oakridge On-Site
Daemon Coughlin, an outdoor specialist at Oakridge Nursery & Landscaping, shows you how to properly prune your trees and shrubs, and shows you when it’s time to grab you pruning shears out of storage.

Pruning Trees

  • Trees grow from the tips out . Always prune your bottom branchs up to get your canopy height where you want it.
  • Clip your branches directly next to the trunk, avoiding stubs, to help prevent disease and insect infestation.

Pruning Shrubs

  • Use a long pair of pruning shears.
  • Remove ends of branches that are sticking out past the desired shape of your plant.

Now that you’re a pruning expert, stop out to Oakridge for the best pruning tools. Whether you’re looking for a new pair of shears are ready to plant a new tree or shrub, we’re happy to help you find what you’re looking for.
